Temporary Screen Discoloration?

Upon booting up my laptop this morning, these was a horrible discoloration. The majority of the screen was much darker than it should have been with two bright spots on the bottom. As my computer loaded completely into Win 7, the screen reset itself to normal. It has not reappeared since. What happened to my screen?
